About
Charlotte is a Brazilian-Chilean artist. She grew up and studied Law in São Paulo. In 2015, she relocated to New Zealand where she is now based.
Charlotte was attracted to photography from a young age. Her perception for composing scenes and aesthetic vision is intrinsic to the way she sees things. It was in New Zealand, she further expanded and developed her interest in photography. Changing scenery from a frenetic megalopolis to a slow-paced town of the other side of the globe, certainly, gave her a new perspective.
Currently, Charlotte lives in Masterton, a small town close to Wellington, the capital. .
She has a good time creating contrasting images. Every single framed scene is unique from a colour, shape subject, texture and theme point of view hence her interest in Fine Art.
She is thrilled to share her photos and projects with you and thankful for you taking your time to learn more about her Fine Art. Feel free to send her an email whether you have further thoughts or queries.
Artist Statement
My intent with my photography is to serve the imagination of the observer. Hopefully, my capture evokes a feeling, thoughts and perhaps even an experience. I deem art and the aesthetic design that comes with it to be the supreme aspect of being human. Creativity can take us beyond the unimaginable and serve as a bridge between the material world to all indecipherable immaterial things, from the entails of our minds to the mystery of the Universe. I genuinely think that all branches of creative activity are an entrance to the unconscious, I mean who would rationally explain why some people like more blue and others more green?!
By capturing the light I want to show a statement piece of the scene which, through my vision and perception, becomes my photograph. I mostly use the basics of editing techniques, and when I use a little more is to bring life to my imagination and make the photograph. I am open-minded about the way I produce my pictures. As everything in this life, our art is in a perpetual transformation and I am curious to see where it will lead me to. Printing is another important and essential part of the photography art which I am fascinated about, the print gives life to every photograph. After all, my photography is one of the best ways I found to self-express and channel my creative spirit.
One of my favourite quotes is:
"Art is an echo of the creative force that birth the galaxies. Creativity is the way the cosmos evolves and communicates with itself. The great uplifting of humanity beyond its self-destruction is the redemptive mission of art." Alex Grey
